October is a special month in our household as I am sure it is in the
homes
of most of the readers of Khaas Baat. It is during this month that
colorful
bangles, sparkling gold and silver jewelry, as well as the traditional
ghagra choli and decorated dandiyas come out from deep inside the
closet,
under the bed or wherever the case may be. Navratri tunes resonate in
our
home and car. By now, the kids and I become aware that the celebrations
are
about to begin!
Navratri, the festival of nine nights, is a fun time for adults as well
as
children. The eagerly awaited first day of the event witnesses a flurry
of
activity for Indians settled in all corners of the world. For Tampa Bay
area
residents, the India Cultural Center is the PLACE to be for garba and
dandiya-raas into the wee hours of the morning.
And once again, I encourage our readers to spread the word about Khaas
Baat,
the ONLY newspaper for our community, by our community. To be added to
our
mailing list, send in your information at [email protected]
Till next time, enjoy the festival season!
