BOLD FASHION COLORS BRIGHTEN THIS FATHER’S DAY
Summer is here! The Florida weather is bright and beautiful, the kids are out of school, and it’s vacation time for many. Another major occasion this month is in honor of all the dads out there: Father’s Day, Sunday June 15.
Here are some tips for you, Dad, to look your handsome best through this month and all season long!
Pastels are the New Neons
Last year, mens’ runway looks sported bold colors such as bright orange, electric blue, and even shocking pink. A change from the neutral whites and beiges, these colors jumped men’s wardrobes and coordinated quite well with their lady counterparts’ ensembles as well.
Now, pastels have made their way as a fashion must-have this season. Such hues are not only easier to carry, they seem more breathable in the heat. Sea greens, sky blues, sunset purples and baby pinks too look great on all skin tones, and with white churidaars or salwars complementing the look, it’s the ideal summer outfit.
White is the New Black
Evening attire almost always includes black for most men. However, Indian runways are hosting a new substitute for the somber shade: white. White is fresh and rejuvenating to the eye. Best of all, it can coordinate with so much. From a colorful dupatta or contrast trousers, to a darker blazer or multicolored tie, so much can be mixed and matched with white.
Not wanting to think things through so much? Easy! Slip on a white sherwani or kurta pajama – just right!
Quick Do’s and Dont’s
Having a last-minute situation? Here are some fast tricks of the trade to help you look your Bollywood best!
Mismatched Dupatta/Stole: If all you have is a blue dupatta to go with your white and red sherwani, work it! Pair it with navy blue shoes, a royal blue watch or a matching turban!
Broken/Missing Buttons or Hooks: You’re late to attend a wedding function and notice the top couple of hooks are missing on your sherwani. What do you do? Wear a safe coordinating or bolder contrasting solid, fitted t-shirt underneath. Open the sherwani’s lower hooks a bit more and flaunt the fresh look!
The Indian Vest: I know, the elections in India just took place. I also realize one or two eclectic designers are trying to revive the antiquated kurta pajama with vest on top look. Unless you’re a member of Parliament, please don’t attempt this. It’s just not a very good look.
Happy Father’s Day wishes to all the Dads-To-Be, Dads, Granddads and beyond! Your love and your discipline are all needed and wanted always. As children grow, their appreciation for all you do grows as well. And, as always, remember to “gro with style!”
