Khaas Baat done it again! Within just over a year since we took off, we have boosted our monthly circulation to 7,000 copies for October. Soon, we hope to add more pages to our already-growing publication.
Now onto the Navratri season, which is almost upon us. The festival of nine nights is being celebrated with great fanfare in West Central Florida. To make it convenient for our readers, we are running a list of the Navratri and Diwali festivities on page 1.
We want to laud the BAPS Swawminarayan Mandir Tampa for holdings two prayer assemblies in remembrance of the victims of Hurricane Katrina (story, page 11).
If you get a chance, do read Daughters of Kerala, a translation of 25 short stories (thanks to translator Achamma C. Chandersekaran) by authors about life in that Southern state over seven decades (story, page 14). Our hats off to Suphala Patankar, an upcoming tabla player living in New York City who has received encouragement from none other than the controversial author Salman Rushdie (story, page 15).
We are indebted to our advertisers for their support. Keep reading Khaas Baat, the quality publication that offers original and locally generated columns and articles. Please e-mail your suggestions and comments to
[email protected]. And letters to the editor
are more than welcome!
