Chalo garba ramiye!
Chalo garba ramiye! Starting Sept. 30, most communities in Florida will begin celebrating Navratri. As you can see on pages 1 and 28, Khaas Baat has extensive coverage of the festival of nine nights. We will continue with the Navratri listing in our October edition. But there are numerous other activities happening in Florida from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale/Miami, Tampa to Jacksonville and cities all around, we have it covered. We take great pride in being the only Florida publication to offer all original articles and columns.
This month, we profile musician, composer, music educator and writer, and teacher Kanniks Kannikeswaran of Cincinnati, Ohio, who has founded and directed Indian American community choirs in his hometown, Bethlehem, Pa., Houston, and, of course, Tampa (story, page 25). Also, we review the book, “His Majesty’s Opponent: Subhas Chandra Bose and India’s struggle against Empire,” for our Under the Cover column (story, page 20).
Community organizers, remember to inform us about events planned in your town. We also accept letters to the editor. Remember, Khaas Baat is the ONE AND ONLY Sunshine State publication that gathers and provides comprehensive coverage of happenings in your Florida Indian community.
