By NITISH S. RELE and SHEPHALI J. RELE

Happy New Year to our readers and well-wishers.

With Makarsankrant (Jan. 14) and India Republic Day (Jan. 26) just around the corner, we have compiled of a list of both the festivities on page 1 as you can see. The Tampa Jan. 14-20 Bhagwat Katha discourse by Pandit Rajin Balgobind should also be on the top of your activities to attend this month. Of course, regular events schedule begins on page 2 as always.

Our “Under the Cover” column is back. We reviewed a couple of interesting books, mainly one by Tony D’Souza, called “Mule: A Novel of Moving Weight.” The Sarasota resident unveils the crime-ridden world of drug trafficking via intense research and personal investigation. Also, check out the tax deadlines for 2012 by our monthly columnist Kamlesh H. Patel, CPA. (story, page 17).

Community organizers, remember to drop us an e-mail about future events in your town. Remember, Khaas Baat is the ONE AND ONLY Sunshine State publication to offer comprehensive coverage of happenings in your Florida Indian community.
