STAY IN FULL FASHION FORM IN 2012

Happy New Year! It’s a bittersweet emotion when the holidays are officially over. The hustle and bustle gone is a relief to many, but the extra cheer and joy all around at the time is missed too! Let’s strive to start the year fresh, revived and full of spirit always. Also necessary: staying in full fashion form.

Ladies, fashion is always on our minds, not just as a New Year’s resolution, but in our overall lives. But equally important is how we (our bodies) actually look in the newest trends. Hollywood and Bollywood over recent years have been grooming and encouraging actresses and models to maintain the size zero trend. Things now, thankfully, are taking an upward (pun intended) turn!

Bollywood beauties such as Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan and Sonakshi Sinha are scorching the silver screen with their curvaceous bodies, and cinema has never looked so good! Finally, we are back to embracing curvy women in their splendor, shunning the whole negative size drift.

The fore-mentioned most desirable leading ladies have stood out with their natural physiques. Kareena, who made the lean-mean look a rage especially for the movie “Tashan,” is back to her gorgeous self. She looked fuller and much sexier, particularly in Indian clothing in hit movies such as “Bodyguard” and “Ra.One.” She’s all set to sizzle in upcoming movies “Agent Vinod,” “Heroine” and “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu,” declining to shed pounds when asked.Apparently, audiences adore her classic silhouette.

Vidya Balan, who has brought back curves in fashion this season in “Dirty Picture,” is quite unapologetic and confident of her figure. For the hit movie, she reportedly gained almost 20 pounds to fill the role of late South sex siren Vijaylakshmi (Silk Smita).

Actor and model Chitrangada Singh wholeheartedly agrees with the new awakening in Bollywood. “It’s wonderful to be a woman. It’s necessary to look like one. Curves are what make us a woman. I personally agree: what a sultry performance of hers in “Desi Boyz”!
For us ladies, cheers. Spring/summer 2012 runways are even endorsing the want for fuller women, using average to plus-size Bollywood actresses/models. Designer Narendra Kumar got Sonakshi Sinha to walk the ramp for him. Duo Shane and Falguni chose Sameera Reddy to showcase their creations. Sonia Mehra and Neeta Lulla opted to choose Zarine Khan and Hema Malini for their bridal collections. Neeta Lulla simply puts it, “Lehngas and saris suit the silhouette of Indian women. Sensual, curvy women.”

Once again, Happy New Year. Keep your resolutions (and fashion ones too) up-to-date always. We wish you a glamorous 2012 filled with zest for life, the love of family, and the laughter of friends. And as always, remember to ‘gro with style’!
