Bollywood releases expected this month

�Kisna�: Starring Vivek Oberoi, Isha Sharvani, Antonia Bernath; directed by Subhash Ghai; music by A.R. Rahman and Ismail Darbar.

Expectations run high with a Subhash Ghai release and if the movie soundtrack is any indication, this one is sure to be a winner. Set in the pre-independence era of 1930 India, Vivek Oberoi plays Kisna, a young Indian who befriends and later protects a British girl, Katherine played by Antonia Bernath, from an enraged mob of nationalists.

Kisna makes it his mission to escort Katherine to safety. A tender attraction develops between them during the journey. An accomplished classical dancer from Kerala, newcomer Isha Sharvani, plays Laxmi, the Indian girl Kisna is engaged to. Watch for Sushmita Sen, who makes a special appearance in a splendid qawalli choreographed by Saroj Khan.

�Bewafaa�: Starring Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Sushmita Sen; directed by Dharmesh Darshan; music by Nadeem-Shravan.

�Bewafaa� is a film that deals with changing morals and values. Kareena Kapoor plays Anjali, the younger daughter living in Canada with her parents. She has a secret love she reveals only to her sister Aarti played by Sushmita Sen. Akshay Kumar plays Raja, the aspiring musician in Anjali�s life.

Fate takes a turn and Anjali passes away after giving birth to twins. Thinking she is doing the right thing, Aarti marries her brother-in-law Aditya, played by Anil Kapoor, and immigrates to New Delhi to raise her two nieces as her own. She finds herself in a marriage of compromise. One day, Raja re-enters her life and she is torn between the two men.

�Black�: Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee, Nandana Sen; directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali; music by Mychael Danna.

After the colorful extravagant superhits �Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam� and �Devdas� directed Sanjay Leela Bhansali returns to make a different type of film hoping to strike a chord with the audience. Not many story details have been released about �Black.� Rani Mukherjee plays a deaf and blind girl. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of her teacher.

The story is set in Simla and the natural beauty of the surroundings are on display. The makers are calling �Black� a musical but an intense drama between the three principal characters played by Bachchan, Mukherjee and Sen, who portrays Mukherjee�s sister.

�Shabd�: Starring Sanjay Dutt, Aishwarya Rai, Zayed Khan; directed by Leena Yadav; music by Vishal-Shekhar.

In �Shabd,� Aishwarya Rai plays Antara, a college professor married to writer Shaukat, played by Sanjay Dutt. Antara meets Yash (Zayeed Khan), a spirited young man who is immediately drawn to her. When Antara mentions this to her husband, he is intrigued and asks her to indulge the young man, hoping to use it as source material for his book.

However, slowly but surely, Shaukant wants Yash out of the novel as much as he wants him out of their lives. Fiction and fact start to blur as a dangerous game is played by all. The makers are calling �Shabd� a gripping and passionate psychological drama.
