Khaas Baat : A Publication for Indian Americans in Florida

Editor's Note

By NITISH S. RELE and SHEPHALI J. RELE

With most communities in Florida beginning Navratri celebrations at the end of this month and continuing into mid-October, we have raas/garba coverage on page 1. So, ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to get your vibrant chaniya-cholis and colorful dandiya sticks ready. Other noteworthy events are the annual Tampa INDO-US Chamber of Commerce Banyan Ball and Orlando Indian American Chamber of Commerce, both on Sept. 24; Manasota/Sarasota India Festival on Sept. 10; and the Asian Cultural Association’s 22nd annual “Beyond Bollywood: 22nd Annual South Asian Film Festival” Oct. 1-3 in Orlando.

For all book lovers, we have Under the Cover book reviews of “The Dalai Lama’s Big Book of Happiness,” Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni’s “Before We Visit the Goddess” and Seymour M. Hersh’s “The Killing of Osama Bin Laden.”
