Khaas Baat : A Publication for Indian Americans in Florida

Editor's Note

By NITISH S. RELE and SHEPHALI J. RELE – [email protected]

Several Sunshine State communities continue with celebrations for Diwali this month. But all roads lead to Tampa with the biggest event of the year in Florida, the popular annual India Festival on Nov. 2 now in its 32nd year. About 12,000 people are expected to attend, says Chairman Sudhir Shah, who is “trying to attract more non-Indian people.” And on Nov. 15, all roads will lead to Orlando when the Throwback 90’s concert featuring Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik takes place.

In addition to columns on health, finance, immigration, entertainment, family matters and more, we are carrying a cookbook review of “Indian-ish: Recipes and Antics from a Modern American family” by Priya Krishna with Ritu Krishna. Also featured is a profile of Tampa Bay’s Pat Bhava, founder of PikMyKid, and several other businesses.
