SOAK IN AT ORLANDO’S COCO KEY HOTEL & WATER RESORT

By NITISH S. RELE [email protected]

Coco KeyCan’t stand the sizzling heat at theme parks? If you are looking for a family-friendly getaway (especially for school age children) with swimming and water activities, look no farther than the recently opened CoCo Key Hotel & Water Resort at bustling 7400 International Drive in Orlando.

The 54,000-square-foot canopy-covered and outdoor water park offers numerous water slides for kids of nearly all ages to adults (there are three daring ones you can try out after climbing a five-story tower); an aptly named Parrot’s Perch (by the way, CoCo is the red parrot mascot for the park), which dumps water by the bucket (make it 400 gallons) every five minutes; and of course swimming pools for the leisure-liking guest.

Also, on the property is a 6,500-square-foot video arcade, 1,000-square-foot fitness center, full-service restaurant, grill and of course a Pizza Hut Express, tiki bar, outdoor lounge and a convenience store.

Rooms start at $99 and go up to $149 with water park amenity costing $19 per room per day (for four in the family). That’s under $5 per person daily, which we think is an awesome deal. Otherwise, day guests to the water park pay $24.95 per person.
