JUNE 2017
Khaas Baat : A Publication for Indian Americans in Florida

Editor's Note

By NITISH S. RELE and SHEPHALI J. RELE

As the fasting month of Ramadan comes to an end, we wish Eid Mubarak to our readers. Despite the summer sizzling temperatures, we have several events in Florida, including the annual Tampa Rath Yatra on June 25 and the Balavihar Summer Camp June 19-30 in Orlando/Longwood.

In his “The Bridge to College” column, Robert Levine urges students to think of the college application process as more than merely showing your qualifications since the best results come “when you let them see your sincere interest.” We also review a cookbook “Vibrant India” by Chitra Agrawal. Plus, we have columns on health, fashion, immigration, motoring, and of course entertainment with movie previews of “Dear Maya,” “Raabta” and “Tubelight.”

We welcome your story ideas and suggestions. Organizing an event in your community? Let us know by the 20th to be listed on our Events calendar. Khaas Baat is proud to be the ONE AND ONLY Sunshine State publication to offer comprehensive coverage of happenings in your Florida Indian community. Do follow us on twitter @khaasbaat and join us on Facebook for details about late-breaking events.
