When we spoke to the talented Vidya Balan a few months ago, she was excited about her role as a detective and was eagerly awaiting the film’s release. Balan calls it a family entertainer, not just a detective film. “Bobby Jasoos” tells the story Bilkis Ahmed known as Bobby, a girl from Moghulpura whose sole ambition is to become the topmost detective in Old City Hyderabad. Supriya Pathak and Rajendra Gupta play her parents who think this dream is just a passing fancy. But when Bobby doesn’t get hired by a local detective agency, she opens her own shop. Balan has donned 12 different elaborate disguises in the film and was often unrecognizable on set. Extensively shot in Hyderabad, the sights and sounds of the city are an integral part of the film. Before filming began, producers Dia Mirza and fiancé Sahil Sangha brought the cast together for workshops and the camaraderie shows. With a promising story and powerful actors, expectations are high for the film.
