JANUARY 2019
Khaas Baat : A Publication for Indian Americans in Florida

Editor's Note

By NITISH S. RELE and SHEPHALI J. RELE – [email protected]

We wish everyone a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.

With Makarsankrant/Lohri/Pongal/Magh Bihu (Jan. 14) and India Republic Day (Jan. 26) a few weeks away, we have put together a list of the festivities in our Florida communities. And, of course, there are several other events taking place also.

Check out our in-depth profile of Fort Myers-based Damyanti Gupta, the first woman engineer to work at Ford Motor Co. Hers is a remarkable and inspirational story. We have reviewed two books, “Second Chance” and “A Father & Son’s Journey: 11 Life Lessons” by Florida authors: Dr. M.P. Ravindra Nathan, a long-time Khaas Baat columnist; and Malhar and Dr. Ram Ramcharran, respectively. And do check out our picks for the most memorable Hindi films of 2018.

Have a column or topic you feel strongly about? Send us a letter to the editor. We also welcome your story ideas and suggestions. Organizing an event in your community? Let us know by the 20th to be listed on our Events calendar. Khaas Baat is proud to be the ONE AND ONLY Sunshine State publication to offer comprehensive coverage of happenings in your Florida Indian community. Do follow us on twitter @khaasbaat and join us on Facebook for details about late-breaking events.
