Starring together for the first time, Anil Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor play father and daughter, Balbir and Sweety, in this coming-of-age story. The trailer reveals that as a young girl, Sweety had always imagined getting married one day. Her Punjabi family is enthusiastic in their efforts to see her married. There seem to be several suitors. But her story isn’t simple. Rajkummar Rao plays Sahil Mirza, a young writer who is completely smitten by her. But Sweety harbors a secret close to her heart. Can her true love find acceptance in her family and society? The makers say resolving these issues prove hilarious, touching and life changing and call it the most unexpected romance of the year. Sonam has said this unique script was the best one to share screen space with her father for the first time. It shouldn’t be a surprise the title comes from the delightful hit song in “1942, A Love Story.” You’ll hear it reworked here along with a new version “Gud naal ishq mitha,” which is also just as lovely as the original.
