FEBRUARY 2013
Khaas Baat : A Publication for Indian Americans in Florida

Editor's Note

By NITISH S. RELE and SHEPHALI J. RELE

This month’s issue is packed with upcoming activities such as the India International Film Festival Tampa Bay, India festivals in Gainesville, Melbourne, Punta Gorda and Palm Beach, as well as numerous fundraisers being held by Ekal Vidyalaya throughout Florida.

Also, we have a new finance column (Qs & As about Social Security) by Haren Mehta and a guest feature by Nilesh Patel on CAP rates and commercial estate. And do check out our Under the Cover feature in which we have reviewed such wonderful books as “The Illicit Happiness of Other People,” by Mani Joseph, “Life Behind the Lobby: Indian American Motel owners and the American Dream” by Pawan Dingra and “Little America: The War Within the War for Afghanistan” by Rajiv Chandrasekaran. (story, page 30).

As always, we welcome your feedback on favorite features or what you would like to see more of. Community organizers, please continue to inform us about future events in your town. Khaas Baat is proud to be the ONE AND ONLY Sunshine State publication to offer comprehensive coverage of happenings in your Florida Indian community.
