Bollywood releases expected this month

"Swades": Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Gayatri Joshi, Kishori Ballal; directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar; music by A.R. Rahman.

Gowarikar's follow-up to the superhit "Lagaan" is probably one of the most eagerly awaited movies in recent years. Shah Rukh Khan plays Mohan Bhargav, a bright NASA scientist working on a rainfall-monitoring satellite. After his project is completed, he feels homesick and begins a nostalgic trip to India to trace his childhood nanny, Kaveriamma.

Mohan's visit turns into a journey of self-realization as he sees the country of his dreams. He finds his nanny in a rural village living with a young schoolteacher named Gita, played by newcomer Gayatri Joshi. Mohan takes it upon himself to use his knowledge to revitalize the village. In return, he discovers the richness in the hearts of the villagers. Rahman's score lives up to his high mark.

"Musafir": Starring Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor, Aditya Pancholi, Sameera Reddy; directed by Sanjay Gupta; music by Vishal and Shekhar.

He's been to orphanages, juvenile delinquent homes and jail. But now, Lucky played by Anil Kapoor wants to settle down in Bangalore with a family. But not before he decides to take on one last con-job, which will set him for life. Instead, he is betrayed by his girlfriend, played by Sameera Reddy. His three partners are hunted down.

And he loses the money, which he got from a drug deal. To add to his troubles, he has a drug lord played by Sanjay Dutt on his trail. Not far behind is a corrupt cop. The makers promise a high-tension thriller leading to an action-packed climax.
