TiEcon Florida 2015 set oct. 3 in tampa
TiE Tampa Bay, the volunteer-run group to foster entrepreneurship, has announced event details and an initial speaker lineup for TiEcon Florida 2015. The annual conference will celebrate its third year of successfully serving the entrepreneurial community in Tampa Bay and Florida by providing support, networking and inspiration.
The conference will be held on Oct. 3 at downtown Tampa’s waterfront Westin Harbour Island Hotel. Registration has begun at www.TiEconFL.com Scheduled speakers include a broad cross-section of successful entrepreneurs and investors, including life-sciences VC Dr. Dinesh Patel of vSpring Capital, banking industry luminary Jay Sidhu of Customers Bancorp, pioneering entrepreneurship educator Dr. Susan Amat of Venture Hive, accomplished tech entrepreneur and executive Kristie Chadwick of the National Business Incubation Association, author and industrialist Rahul Shukla of S.S.White Technologies, banking industry innovator Luvleen Sidhu of BankMobile and. artist and technology entrepreneur and artist Raghava KK of Flipsicle, among others.
“It’s very different from any other entrepreneurship conference out there,” said TiE Tampa Bay Chairman Kunal Jain. “All of our speakers are very approachable and accessible at TiEconFL – they’re here because they want to help other entrepreneurs. It’s all about paying it forward.” All TiE events are free to members.
TiE Tampa Bay is one chapter of a robust international organization. TiE, with its origins in Silicon Valley has a global footprint all the way to Singapore, with 61 chapters in 18 countries, many with affiliated angel investment arms.
In addition to TiEcon Florida, TiE Tampa Bay has facilitated the formation of TiE Tampa Angel Forum, a group of Charter Members who as accredited investors have supported promising Florida startups. “We at TiE Tampa Bay Angels have invested in startups such as Feathr founded in Gainsville by Aidan Augustin and Neal Ormsbee; FlexReceipts founded in Windermere by Tomas Diaz; PikMyKid founded in Tampa Bay by Chitra Kanagaraj and Saravana Pat Bhava, Florida Funders founded in St. Petersburg by Dave Chitester, and Check I’m Here founded in St. Petersburg by Rueben Pressman” said Irv Cohen, TiE Tampa Angel Forum Chair. “At TiEcon Florida, we will continue our tradition of hosting an exciting startup pitch contest, to identify more startups to consider for funding.”
