Improper digestion and accumulation of toxins
As we all know, food is digested by the body, and the digested food is processed further to rebuild the tissues and create energy. The undigested food is eliminated by the body. However, there are certain food categories such as incompatible, non-seasonal, stale, junk, etc., which may not get digested completely.
The digestive capacity could be reduced or disturbed due to factors such as age, and negative mental states like stress and frustration. Then there is detrimental lifestyle like lack of exercise, Improper eating habits such as overeating, emotional eating, excess of cold and raw food, etc.
When there is a disturbance in the digestive system, food can remain semi digested. When the incompletely digested food is not metabolized and stays in the body, it may turn toxic.
So, having healthy food alone does not ensure good digestion.
Toxins accumulate in the body at various levels such as circulation, it could even go deeper into the tissues and cells depending on how long the situation has been going on. It causes deterioration of the bodily functioning, clogging channels in the body, and also disturbing the physiological processes at the cellular level. This may lead to serious diseases.
Correction in lifestyle, eating habits and ayurvedic herbs help overcome the condition. A quick and good way to purge the body of the toxins is through an ayurvedic cleanse called Panchakarma.
Panchakarma: Ayurvedic detoxification
‘Panch’ (means five) and ‘Karma’ (means action); thus, Panchakarma signifies a set of five detoxification and purification procedures.
Pancha karma is a mind and body detoxification technique; it rejuvenates the body and mind, helps maintain health, and manages chronic diseases like autoimmune diseases, arthritis, digestive issues, chemotherapy, chronic skin conditions, etc.
The procedure is usually performed in a serene place as a 5-8 days retreat program under the guidance of ayurvedic practitioners and Panchakarma therapists. It includes customized therapies, specialized local treatments, ayurvedic meals, yoga and meditation.
Benefits of Panchakarma

Ayurvedic texts say that “In a person whose digestive system has been cleansed and purified the metabolism is stimulated, disease is reduced, and normal health is maintained. Symptoms of aging do not appear so easily and the person lives long and free from disorders. For this reason, elimination therapy should be carried out correctly and at the right time.”
